Provincial partnership agreement with YUWA

Agreement signing among six partners
Jiwanta Nepal has entered into the provincial partnership agreement with YUWA for 2020. This partnership among six organisations will work together to advocate on youth issues and empowerment. 

An agreement was signed on the program organised on the 10th Anniversary of YUWA on December 20, 2019. For 2020, these organisations will work together to implement youth-related programs and projects intended to capacicate and engage all youths meaningfully at all decision-making levels.

[FULLY FUNDED] Call for Application: Youth Empowerment- Youth Leadership and Data

YUWA together with Jiwanta Nepal is going to organise three days workshop for 20 selected youths on Youth Empowerment- Youth Leadership and Data at Avocado & Orchid Hotel, Chaukitol, Hetauda.

As part of the Youth Empowerment- Youth Leadership and Data, YUWA is looking for innovative and energetic youth to be evidence based leaders of Nepal by empowering on concepts of youth, their rights, leadership and skills, and the use of open data as evidence for youth-led and data driven development. The Youth Empowerment- Youth Leadership and Data Project is designed around the premise that if a network of young data leaders is formed, then these leaders can productively support the government at the local levels to make evidence-based decisions for the welfare of the community through the use of (open) data. 

Project Description 

Youth Empowerment- Youth Leadership and Data, with an interactive approach, will focus on empowering youth at local level about youth leadership and skills, while centering on the role and importance of open data in applying the leadership skills in their community. The project aims to address evidence based decision-making challenges of youth at the local level, as it is crucial to fill in the gap between youth and their potential to better understand causality of local issues, find appropriate solutions for them and to better allocate pertinent resources to help monitor and evaluate one's decisions. With Nepal moving into the federal structure, informed young leaders at local level who can use open data to develop and implement community solutions as well as advocate with and support local governments are key for success. 

Application Process 

Each participant need to fill in the application form, and in the application form will be asked to highlight a problem in their community that they as leaders wish to find a solution for. Twenty selected participants will be called to participate in the three days workshop free of cost to be held at Avocado & Orchid Hotel, Chaukitol, Hetauda.

Participants will be selected from diverse backgrounds in terms of education, profession, age, ethnicity and religion. Evaluation of the applicants will be based on their written application by the jury. Youth from marginalized community are highly encouraged to apply.

The form can also be filled out online at https://urlzs.com/G2X8J. The following are the eligibility requirements: 

• Age 16 to 29 years 
• Nepali Citizen and local resident of Hetauda
• Local youth
• Above Secondary Education Examination (SEE)    

Last date for the application submission: 7th July 2019    

Project Timeline 

Being a Youth Champion, he/she will be required to commit 3 days of full residential program of community-based plan of action implementation generated through the workshop which will be held from:

Workshop date- 13th,14th & 15th July 2019
Deadline for the application call- 7th July 2019

Action Plan implementation timeline- 20th-27th July 2019 

Project Requirements: 

• Participate in the 3 days' workshop on leadership and open data. 
•This workshop will introduce the participants about evidence-based development plan to be conducted in their community.
• Participants have to prepare a plan using the knowledge gained from the workshop which has to be implemented within 5 months after the completion of the workshop.
